Draper: Engineering Possibilities 2016
Designer: Robert de Saint Phalle
SITU Fabrication was commissioned by Draper Laboratories and designer Robert de Saint Phalle to engineer, fabricate and install the Engineering Possibilities 2016 Exhibition at their headquarters in Cambridge, Massachusetts. A series of seven hexagonal shaped information kiosks created the framework for the exhibition, displaying Draper Engineering's emerging technologies. Wired for lighting and media, the kiosks are composed of thin modular wall units that can be assembled and disassembled in multiple configurations at different venues. For four of the kiosks have, SITU milled large relief topographies out of high density foam that could be clipped and unclipped to the wall panels. In addition, SITU fabricated a suite of custom plywood and solid surface furniture for the exhbition. Stools and undulating benches provided seating, while hourglass-shaped tables and a custom bar rounded out the exhibition experience.
